14 Aug Learn about how taking an accent assessment can help you improve your pronunciation
What is an accent assessment?
British Accent Academy has been offering accent assessments since 2015. We’ve helped over 5,000 clients to improve their pronunciation. Many of these clients have also taken a live accent assessment on Zoom.
All accent assessments take place over 55 minutes and are recorded for you to keep and rewatch as many times as you like.
When you take a pronunciation assessment or accent assessment, you’ll find out which aspects of your speech might be affecting your ability to pronounce English clearly. You’ll find out precisely which aspects of your speech are contributing to the doubts you’re having about how you pronounce English. An accent assessment involves your expert speech coach, Katie, listening to you pronouncing all 45 sounds of English, all the English phonemes, as part of a series of sentences. Katie will also take a deep look at your usage of connected speech, stress, and intonation using real life dialogues.
You will go through the speech sounds and main speech patterns of English one by one, and then Katie will make a map of your accent, showing you exactly where your accent differs from the modern Received Pronunciation accent model. She will then prepare a bespoke course plan for you that you can use to guide your practice.
